Some of the Things You Can Expect from the 2016 Qatar Summit feat Google for Education

The Qatar Foundation in cooperation with AppsEvents is proud to be hosting another Google for Education Summit this March 11-12, 2016 to be held at the Qatar Academy in Doha.

The 2016 Qatar Google for Education Summit is a fantastic learning event to support classroom teachers, school leaders and school IT staff on leveraging Google Apps for Education’s suite of tools to enhance and support 21st century learning.

Chromebook Management and the Google Apps Classroom

We are also delighted to offer the Chromebook Management Course designed to help you get started on using the device in an educational set-up.

The course will run as a seven part series spread throughout the 2-day summit and will be headed by Google Certified Trainer, Copil Bogdan. In this customized learning pathway, we will cover the key functionalities of the Chrome OS so you can maximize the full potential of the Google Apps for Education suite of tools in your Chromebook device and then take a closer look at specific tools/apps/extensions and the best practices on using them to enhance student learning and teacher productivity. Customize your summit experience
according to your experience or job role!

All AppsEvents summits have some specific learning pathways that goes beyond Google Apps for attendees who want to take deeper dives into specific subjects or job roles. Remember though that all sessions are ‘open access’ so attendees can choose individual sessions depending on their areas of interest and many choose last minute depending on the conversations they have on the day.

Beginner / Intermediate

Do you feel that you need more time to explore specific tools? Start your day on the right foot with our focused beginner/intermediate sessions. We have sessions on the core Google apps such as Sheets, Forms, and Drawing. There are also sessions about blogging, using YouTube EDU, and doing better research the Googley way.

Advanced

Ready to level up? Make sure to bring a laptop or a Chromebook with you and explore ways in which features of Google Classroom plus Google Docs & Drive can be used to embed the IB MYP Approaches to Learning within tasks and assessments. There will also be an interactive workshop which will introduce Google Fusion Tables (Beta) and how to locate and use open data sources to answer questions and create stories around data sets as well as a session designed for School Administrators to simplify daily administrative tasks.

For Administrators

We are also bringing also bringing AppsEvents Certified Admin Level 1 and 2 as regular summit sessions.

Mobile
On Friday, day 1 of the Qatar summit, we will have mobile focused sessions spearheaded by AppsEvents Team member James Sayer, Classroom where you can try the latest Android device, learn about using tablets in the classroom, administering apps and devices, mobile app development and more.

We will also have a Demo Slam session where attendees are encouraged to showcase a tip or trick that others will be able to use in 2 minutes or less. Slams can be pre-planned and expected to have been rehearsed/prepared.
